L&#8217;\u00e9thyl\u00e8ne glycol est \u00e9galement utilis\u00e9 dans la d\u00e9shydratation du gaz naturel ainsi que dans la production de r\u00e9sines de type alkyde et de r\u00e9sines de polyester insatur\u00e9.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L&#8217;\u00e9thyl\u00e8ne glycol (mono\u00e9thyl\u00e8ne glycol (MEG), nom IUPAC : \u00e9thane-1,2-diol) est un liquide hygroscopique incolore, inodore, mod\u00e9r\u00e9ment visqueux, au go\u00fbt sucr\u00e9 (toxique !). L&#8217;\u00e9thyl\u00e8ne glycol est produit \u00e0 partir d&#8217;\u00e9thyl\u00e8ne, par hydratation en phase liquide de l&#8217;oxyde d&#8217;\u00e9thyl\u00e8ne interm\u00e9diaire avec une solution dilu\u00e9e d&#8217;acide sulfurique. Un exc\u00e8s d&#8217;eau et diff\u00e9rents glycols sont s\u00e9par\u00e9s par distillation sous vide. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L&#8217;\u00e9thyl\u00e8ne glycol, comme la plupart des autres alcools, peut \u00e9galement \u00eatre fabriqu\u00e9 en faisant r\u00e9agir du chlore et de l&#8217;eau avec de l&#8217;\u00e9thyl\u00e8ne pour former la chlorhydrine, qui est ensuite hydrolys\u00e9e pour donner du glycol.
