What is absorption of light?
When some light falls and the light rays are not reflected, they are absorbed, they are swallowed, so to speak.
Light absorption is a physical interaction in which light gives its energy to matter. Light absorption is a special case of the more general physical phenomenon of absorption. When electromagnetic radiation is absorbed, an electron of an atom goes from a lower energy state to a higher energy state through the “electron jump”. One speaks of electronic excitation.
The reversal process for light absorption is the spontaneous emission of light. Light is emitted by matter, whereby the internal energy of matter decreases by the corresponding amount of energy.
